KARACHI: In the backdrop of recent targeted killings of traffic police officials the police authorities have provided 2,640 bulletproof vests to traffic policemen performing duties in the arteries of Karachi in a bid to protect their lives. A total of 2,640 bulletproof jackets were handed over to the traffic police by senior police officials. Out of the 2,640 jackets, 428 were distributed to the traffic police in District South, 750 to District City, 498 to District Central, 330 to District Malir and 234 to District Korangi. Police officials said that around 5,000 bulletproof jackets were donated by the United States to the Sindh police, however, in the first phase, the police department has distributed 2,640 jackets while the remaining will be distributed in the next phase.
