KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Saturday claimed to have arrested four suspected criminals, including a political party worker, in the metropolis on Saturday. A statement issued by Rangers spokesman said during a crackdown on criminals, the Rangers arrested a political party worker, Muhammad Atif, alias Papita from Defence area. Meanwhile, a Rangers party detained three drug peddlers, Sajjad, alias Babri, Luqman, and Fahad from Modal Colony. They were sailing drugs in the area, the Rangers said. The also claimed to have recovered weapons, drugs and contraband from their possession. Also, Rangers conducted a raid in Sohrab Goth area and detained three robbers, Sameer Mustafa, Shahid and Abdullah. They were allegedly involved in several robberies. Meanwhile, a Rangers team carried out a raid in DHA’s Phase-6 and arrested a drug peddler, Ezhar Hussain Shah. The Rangers also claimed to have recovered weapons, drugs and contraband from their possession. They shifted them to undisclosed locations for further interrogation. However, on other side, a suspected criminal was shot and injured in police encounter in Karachi’s Nazimabad area. A patrolling police team signaled a suspected criminal riding a bike in Nazimabad No-4, but he tried to flee. The police opened fire in which he sustained received bullet injuries. The accused was identified as Sameer, aged 32. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. Published in Daily Times, September 24th 2017.
