HYDERABAD: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) has demanded Punjab-like interest-free loans for growers so that they can stand on their feet after the recent set back by delayed sugarcane crushing in the province. The demand was made during a SCA meeting held simultaneously in Karachi, Hyderabad, Ghotki, Sanghar and Sukkur via video link on Sunday. The meeting, chaired by SCA Vice Chairman Qabool Khatian, urged the federal and provincial governments for making agriculture-friendly policies. On the occasion, the farmers said that wheat crop was adversely affected due to shortage of water in the province. They demanded of the government to ensure release of water in canals on 11 and 21 January, respectively from Kotri and Sukkur barrages so that the wheat crop standing on 2.8 million acres could receive sufficient water.
