Karachi: The MQM-Pakistan through its so-called `white paper’ has once again tried to revive the politics of hatred on linguistic grounds in the province. The hidden agenda behind this move is to complete the mission of MQM-London which had founded the politics of fear and tyranny in the province, particularly in Karachi. Since, MQM-P leadership happens to be an `stop-gap arrangement’ of MQM-L, therefore they are trying to revive the legacy of their leader. But, the people of Karachi are well-educated, enlightened, and sensible and they understand very well that the people lwho had hijacked them under the name of `Muhajir politics’ and destroyed their youngsters under the absurd slogans. Foreseeing their defeat and rejection in the forthcoming general elections, the MQM-P is trying to misguide the people of what they term of the designate-Urban cities by quoting wrong and baseless figures. Now let us come to the facts and figures: The Sindh government ha implemented quota system in its true letter and spirit on rural and urban basis. But, MQM-P wants to its implementation on linguistic basis which is impossible. PPP does not believe in divide and discrimination on any ground. The composition of Sindh cabinet is the manifestation of PPP’s firm belief in equality and unity. The Sindh cabinet has true representation of women, rural, urban and people of different language and minorities. The Sindh cabinet members hail from different areas of the province, speak different languages and believe in different faiths- but they are our strength and we believe in them. MQM Pakistan is taking about Urdu speaking people of designated cities but what about the Urdu speaking people living in rural areas. The PPP always owns them and they own PPP- this is the fact that’s why today you are shattered and we are united. You have isolated yourself by talking about the people of designated Urban areas and we are united by serving the down-trodden irrespective of their language, religions, cast and creed discrimination. Unequitable distribution of resources: MQM-P has said that there is un equitable distribution of resources between rural and Urban Sindh which is totally wrong and is a misguiding statement. As a matter of fact, the local government has a Rs37 billion development budget, out of which 65 percent of funds are being utilized in Karachi and 35 percent in the rest of Sindh. This is not lack of knowledge on the part of MQM-P they are in habit of painting bleak pictures of positive things. This is on record that when MQM enjoyed extra-ordinary powers in KMC under Musharraf tenure and they inducted 45,000 extra employees in KMC and in the 18 towns of the city. Those recruitments were made purely on favoritism and majority of the recruits were MQM activists. Now, apart from OZT share, the Sindh government gives Rs 500 million to KMC as monthly grant which goes into their salaries. The MQM-P says that KWSB is not under the Mayor. This is a fact that it is not under mayor. But what they had done with KWSB during their tenure as mayor is an open secret. The MQM had inducted 8000 extra-employees into KWSB and again most of the new inductees were their activists. The MQM stuffed all its target killers, Bhatta collectors, and street criminals into water board. They polluted KWSB by inducting their criminal cadre. The KWSB which used to be self-sufficient in meeting all its expenditures, including development expenses up to 2005 fall flat on the ground due to over burden of payroll. Will the mayor Karachi share with the people of the city who appointed Shamin, the killer of Imran Farooq in KWSB. (We have a long list of such criminals which we would share with the people latter). Now, the Sindh government gives Rs500 million to KWSB for its power bills and other expenditures. The Sindh government has also launched multiple schemes, including the mechanical works of its pumping station by spending millions of rupees. Since its inception, MQM has been in power in KMC but it never undertook overhauling of pumping stations and replacing heavy duty motors. Instead the MQM workers inducted in KMC and KWSB started collecting Bhatta from their officers and then used to send the same to London. Basically, MQM-P Pakistan is feeling severe pain of its bog-boss whose financial supply line has been choked by PPP government in Sindh. This is the reason they are crying like babies. Garbage: The responsibility of lifting the garbage lies with DMCs. MQM-P has won three DMCs, Central, Korangi and East. Eight months have passed since then but MQM-P’s chairmen have failed to deliver. There are heaps of filth and garbage – why have they failed to cleanse their respective DMCs areas. The DMC Central gets Rs 160.19m monthly OZT, East Rs 100. 19 m and Korangi Rs 120.31 million. Now, Sindh Solid Waste Management (SSWM) with the consent of DMC South has out-sourced the cleaning, sweeping and lifting of garbage works to a Chinese firm. The Mayor of Karachi instead of serving the city and its people is wasting his energies in negativity. During the last eight-months he has not developed any park, cleaned any nala nor upgraded fire tender services or enhanced tax recovery or removed encroachments from any KMC land. The Sindh government desilted Gujar Nala, Mahmoodabad Nala, Kalri Piture nala and has removed encroachments from their embankments and handed them over to KMC.
