KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday announced a march on Raiwind against the government on September 24. Addressing a rally in Karachi, he said, “On September 24, I will bring people from across Pakistan to Raiwind.” “I am inviting the entire nation to participate in the march,” he added. Imran Khan said he had no plans of coming to Karachi, but when the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) founder used “that language” against Pakistan, he decided to come. “I want to tell the people of Karachi, you are not alone!” Imran Khan said that the MQM founder wanted to divide the country. “I was inspired by Azeem Tariq. Altaf felt threatened by him, so he had him killed,” he said. The PTI chief said, “He who cannot conquer his fears cannot do anything big. The nation that lives in fear becomes a slave.” Talking about the patriotism of ‘muhajirs’ – a term used for immigrants and their descendants – Imran Khan said that his fellow player Javed Miandad was also muhajir and greatly patriotic. “Whenever I got into trouble, Miandad would step up. He was one of the biggest patriots I have seen,” he added. “Muhajirs do not need to prove their patriotism. Imran Khan will always stand by muhajirs,” he said. “I want to give muhajirs a message today. You don’t need to tell anyone how patriotic you are.” The PTI chief alleged that 50 percent of Punjab’s development funds went to Lahore, while southern Punjab was left undeveloped. He claimed that Nawaz Sharif had destroyed state institutions and would never allow institutional reforms. “Hassan Sharif lives in a house worth Rs 6.5 billion. But he doesn’t know where the money came from,” he added. Earlier, talking to the media, Imran said the days of Altaf Hussain’s terror were over. He said that the MQM founder, with the collaboration of India’s spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), had destabilised Karachi. Imran said that by saying ‘Pakistan should be divided’ and the hatred he had exhibited for Pakistan by chanting anti-Pakistan slogans, Altaf had destabilised Karachi along with RAW. “Businesses have left the city, unemployment has risen. We want to tell the people of Karachi, especially the muhajirs, that I am with you.”
