KARACHI: Various political and religious parties held rallies and demonstrations to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir here on Sunday. The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Karachi, took out a rally to observe Kashmir Day from Jail Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid. A large number of JI activists and citizens from all walks of life participated in the rally. The participants were carrying placards and banners, inscribed with slogans, expressing solidarity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the rally, JI deputy Chief Asadullah Bhutto Advocate demanded of the government to play its due role for liberation of Kashmir, instead of taking a totally opposite course. He termed Kashmir as incomplete agenda of 1947 partition. He said that it was the basic principle and formula of the partition of the subcontinent that Muslims majority areas of the region would be a part of Pakistan. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also took out a rally led by Sardar Sheeraz from Kashmir Colony to the Karachi Press Club (KPC). Addressing the rally, he said the Indian Army has so far killed thousands of Kashmiris including men, women and children. He said the silence of international forces over such brutalities was strange; adding that the people of Pakistan would not abandon the Kashmiris. He said that the old, young, women and children all have sacrificed their lives in the way of freedom and we cannot ignore that. Tehreek Jawanan Pakistan took out a really, which after marching through various city roads terminated at KPC. The participants of the rally carrying banners and placards strongly condemned the Indian forces and warned the Indian government against the killing the peaceful Kashmiris. Speaking on the occasion, chief organizer Naeem Khan said the silence of the United Nations over the serious issue is really condemnable. “Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and nobody could separate it from it, he said. He demanded of the human rights organizations to take action against the Indian government to stop its atrocities. On the occasion, the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (Sindh Circle) including its members and hundreds of Kashmiris symbolically crossed the Line of Control. They said that the international community should resolve the matter otherwise they themselves will help their Kashmiri brothers by violating the border restrictions. The International Peace Organization (IPO) also held a rally in solidarity with the Kashmiris. The participants of the rally were carrying placards and banners that read “Stop atrocities on Kashmiris” and “UN should resolve the issue”. They said that Kashmiri people are demanding nothing but what was pledged to them by the United Nations. The United Nations has to tell the world why it has failed to implement its own resolution. They demanded of the United Nation to help Kashmiris by ending the Indian atrocities on them.
