MIRPURKHAS: “Role of physiotherapist is vital in early recovery of patients with disability and the condition can be prevented by induction of physiotherapists in the health system”, said Dr. Mukesh Kumar Head of SK Foundation Physiotherapy Hospital, Mirpurkhas said on Saturday. He was addressing a seminar held in connection with the World Disability Day organized at Sher Afzal Khan Welfare Foundation Physiotherapy Complex Mirpurkhas. “Health Units need physiotherapists, which can be cost effective for the both Charity Organizations and patients and may ensure early rehabilitation and prevention of disability,” he added. Dr Mukesh appreciated the talent of SK Foundation Physiotherapy Hospital’s doctors, staff, and technicians and emphasized on research in the field of physiotherapy. He said disability could not be prevented if the expertise of physiotherapists were not involved. Earlier, the Chairman of the Foundation, Sher Afzal Khan said that the Foundation intends to induct physiotherapists in the district of Mirpurkhas with the view of providing rehabilitation facility at the door step. He demanded to strengthen rehabilitation services in remote areas of Sindh by inducting Physiotherapists, Orthotists and Psychologists. He further said that the Health Department, Social Welfare, Education, Bait-ul-Mal and BISP should join hands to provide healthcare facilities, education, vocational training and vocational rehabilitation to empower the disabled. A large number of doctors, teachers, special children and social organization representatives were present on the occasion.
