KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Tuesday demanded formation of a medical board to probe into the death of a detained worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Dr Farooq Sattar’s coordinator Aftab Ahmed. While speaking outside the assembly after session, he said that the responsibility should be fixed for his death in custody. Ahmed died on Tuesday while he was in the detention of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh over his alleged involvement in the offences within the domain of Anti-Terrorism Act. According to the Sindh Rangers, on the complaints of chest pain the suspect was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he died of heart failure. Earlier, the Rangers’ counsel informed the court that the suspect Aftab Ahmed Alias Bobby was arrested within the limits of Federal B area police station and he along with other suspects was involved in killing of as many as 40 peoples. The Rangers issued a press release according to which Aftab Ahmed was arrested from his area residence and was detained for 90 days four days back on May 1st and he was detained for the period of 90 days. He complaint of chest pain On Tuesday morning on which he was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but he died of heart failure. Following the news of his death, MQM leadership and activists arrived in the hospital to receive his body. The party sources said Ahmed was working as a coordinator for Dr Farooq Sattar since 2002. Meanwhile, Sindh Assembly was prorogued on Tuesday amid grave disorder due to the protest of Muttahida Quami Movement. The MQM protested inside the House when the speaker did not allowed their MPA Muhammad Hussain Khan to speak on a point of order. The members of MQM gathered before the dice of assembly speaker and raised slogans. They wanted to discuss alleged political victimisation of their party leaders. The MQM members protested from 21 minutes when the House was prorogued due to serious disorder. Only two questions of Oakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) lawmaker Nusrat Abbasi were answered in the sitting. However, the speaker congratulated the House for completing 100 days of business. Later, the speaker read out the message of the Sindh governor to prorogue the House.
