NAUNDERO: Hundreds of primary teachers under the banner of All Sindh Primary Teachers Association gathered here on Sunday, took out a massive rally for the acceptance of their 19 demands. They were led by their central leaders including Intezar Chilgri, Ghulam Rasul Mahar, Sikandar Jatoi, Liaquat Deedar, Sadaruddin Umrani, Mumtaz Wadho and others. As soon as they started to march by foot towards Garhi Khuda Bux holding large banners and chanting sky-high slogans, heavy contingents of police came into their way to proceed to the Bhutto mausoleum but they bypassed all the hurdles and reached the boundary wall where they found all the gates closed. The teachers staged a sit-in in front of gate No: 12 in this sizzling heat which too was locked where Intezar Chilgri gave a 20 minutes ultimatum to the authorities to open the gates but the gates were not opened. Police party led by DSP Yar Muhammad Rind held talks with the agitating teachers and they started their protest demonstration along side the huge boundary wall. The teachers leaders while addressing the participants said that “Oh Bhutto leaders, we teachers have come here to make a complaint to you against your present government’s education minister Jam Mehtab Dahar who is committing injustices with us constantly as many of our colleagues have either been transferred, suspended or directed to report to Education Department, Karachi” without any justification. They said that monthly salaries have also been stopped in violation of the apex court orders which can only be called highhandedness. They said that they are being forced not to even come to your graves now and not to make complaints to you against them. They said that they have come here to seek their rights which is not a sin at all. They announced that if their demands are not accepted forthwith then they will stage a huge sit-in on 7th May at Nawabshah, 15th May at Hyderabad and 19th May in Karachi before Chief Ministers House to press the rulers to accept their just demands. They said that they have submitted 19 demands charter to the Education Secretary which is being opposed by the Education Minister which can also be termed as denial of rights by an elected government. He said that their demands include award of time scale on the pattern of Balochistan Government since 2014, regularization of teachers who passed Sindh University test, removal of discrepancies of bio-metric system. restoration of suspended & transferred employees, release of withheld salaries, running scale to the teachers in compliance with the court orders, restoration of PST post, utility allowance on the pattern of CM house employees (as they are not above the law), health insurance of all teachers, promotion of male/female high school teachers which has been denied to then since two decades, filling of vacant administrative posts and 25% child quota to the teacher’s children and so forth. They warned that if their just demands are not immediately accepted then their protest shall continue which may spread to all over the province.
