LAHORE: A resolution was Monday filed in the Notice Branch of the Punjab Assembly to condemn United States President Trump’s remarks against Pakistan. The resolution was filed by MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). While filing the resolution, scores of PML-N lawmakers demanded reduction in the number of US diplomats working in the country. The resolution stated that Pakistan did not need financial assistance but acknowledgement of its innumerable sacrifices, including loss of more than 70,000 lives, in the war on terror. The resolution termed the statement of the US president, accusing Pakistan of “harbouring terrorist safe havens”, highly regrettable. “Pakistan is a major victim of terrorism in the world and the world needs to acknowledge its sacrifices in the war on terror,” the resolution added. It is expected that the resolution will be entertained in the upcoming session of the Punjab Assembly scheduled to be held on September 9. Published in Daily Times, August 29th 2017.
