LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said hollow slogans would not serve the purpose of public service rather it needs dedication and devotion. He said that baseless allegations could not shatter his passion of public service, and vowed to serve the masses selflessly. Taking a swipe at his political opponents, the chief minister said people knew those people, who are involved in hurling baseless allegation on others. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had put the country on the road to progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “Evil minded elements, through their negative politics, have created a lot of hurdles in public welfare projects for their vested interests but people will again reject them in 2018 elections, as they did in 2013,” he added. Meanwhile, Minister for National Food Security Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan called on the chief minister here on Friday. During the meeting, they discussed wheat procurement campaign, agricultural development and farmers’ prosperity programmes across the country. Shahbaz Sharif said the government had set a target to purchase 40 million tonnes tons of wheat during the current fiscal year.
