LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab, with the collaboration of national and international organization, is imparting latest training to its teachers. TEVTA Punjab would achieve its target to impart technical and vocational training to 541,000 youth up to 2018, said TEVTA chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh on Thursday. It is in line with the policy of the Punjab chief minister to upgrade the professional skills of teachers working in TEVTA institutes across the province of Punjab. “We have chalked out training calendar to enhance professional skills of TEVA Teachers in phases because their enhanced teaching talent would ultimately be reflected in the skills of the trainees,” he added. He was addressing on the occasion of Certificate Distribution Ceremony at Chief Minister House. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that TEVTA had recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to train 500 newly recruited TEVTA teachers and principals to enhance their professional capabilities. “No doubt, this training will improve their capacity building and impart quality training, which was held at Government Staff Training College in Lahore and Murree. 2,441 male and female TEVTA teachers had been trained during last year through its different Teachers Training Programme. The aim to arrange these training programmes is based on international standards and in line with the latest curricula and industrial exposure support of Pakistan Air Force in skill upgradation, pedagogy and communication skills. This will not only be beneficial for the industry but also will be helpful to export TEVTA pass outs to the gulf where there is a great demand of workers in various sectors,” he added. TEVTA has utilized Rs 2,000 million already allocated for development schemes for running developing projects, latest machinery and equipment and enhancement of skilled manpower, the chairman said.
