Earlier, the full bench on March 30 turned down the request to drop contempt of court proceedings against three lawyers. The lawyers had requested to drop the proceedings, as Punjab Bar Council had been hearing the same matter. The bench had rejected the request, and also took notice of the unrepentant approach shown by the lawyers in their defence. Separately, Justice Erum Sajad Gull of the LHC on Tuesday rejected the bail application of a man, Muhammad Hanif, who was accused of blinding and emasculating a class ninth student, Aish Muhammad. Parveen, the sister of the accused has filed an application seeking release of her brother. Counsel for the applicant said that the accused had nothing to do with the case, and that he was falsely implicated in the case. He stated there was no source of information mentioned in the FIR lodged against him. Central Investigation Agency (CIA)’s deputy superintendent of police appeared before the court and said that a case was lodged against the accused. He said that Hanif was arrested on April 20, and an anti-terrorism court had sent him on physical remand until April 28. The case was lodged against the accused at Sundar Police Station under Section 324 of the PPC on complaint of victim’s father Muhammad Javed. He alleged that Aish Muhammad, and his friend Waqar, were headed home on a motorcycle when four unidentified people intercepted them and started beating them. He alleged that the assailants attacked the victim’s eyes with knives. According to sources, the motive behind the alleged crime was that the victim had illicit relations with daughter of the accused.
