LAHORE: All is set to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Pakistan Day today (Thursday) in a befitting manner. The day will dawn with a 21-gun salute by the Pakistan Army in the provincial capital to commemorate the historic milestone of the Lahore Resolution, which was passed by All India Muslim League on March 23, 1940, at the Minto Park, now Greater Iqbal Park. A large number of ceremonies, walks, seminars, painting exhibitions and cake cutting ceremonies will be held in the city. In this connection, the district administration will hold a ceremony at the Government High School Khazana Gate that will be attended by additional commissioners. Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sumair Ahmed Syed has also announced to celebrate the day in schools at tehsil-level. He has also directed assistant commissioner to participate in the ceremonies in their respective areas. Students will participate in tableaus along with quiz competitions and painting exhibitions. A cake-cutting and flag hosting ceremony will be held at the Child Protection Bureau. Meanwhile, the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) in collaboration with the Punjab Archives Department will hold an exhibition based on historical documents alongside lithographs, miniature paintings belonging to different Mughal era at the Shahi Hammam. The Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust (NPT) has also planned a ceremony at its office that will be attended by students, members of NPT and government officers. Separately, city police have beefed up security arrangements on the eve of Pakistan Day to avoid any untoward incident across city, besides launching a massive search operation in various areas of the city. Police high-ups have deputed snipers on rooftops of buildings adjacent to important public places.
