LAHORE: A full dress rehearsal to review the arrangements for holding the Pakistan-Indian Punjab Games was held here on Friday at the National Hockey stadium. As many as five hundred individuals participated in the rehearsal in which final touches were given to the preparations to hold the event in a befitting manner. Gymnastic display by a group of players was a feat to watch by all the participants who lauded their superb performances.
Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Director General Usman Anwar was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the participants, he said, “Seeing the passion and enthusiasm of the players, I can proudly say that our youth will accomplish the task of breaking 100 world records.
The successful holding of the Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) has not only portrayed positive image of the country to the entire world but has also enhanced self-confidence of the Youth which will help them in future.”
He pointed out that all the participants of the World Records, created by the PYF, would be awarded certificates, which would be important assets for whole of their lives.
The Pakistan-Indian Punjab Games will get underway from March 2, while the 99-member Indian delegation will reach Lahore on March 1, to take part in eight different events including wrestling, bodybuilding, tug-of-war, arm-wrestling (male and female), mat-wrestling and Kabbadi (male and female).
