LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at a local court in Charsadda and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives. While expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the chief minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and also for quick recovery for those injured in this incident. In a statement on Tuesday, the chief minister said such terrorist attacks could not demoralise the nation. “Enemies cannot shatter our determination with such coward acts and we pledge to stand again with more passion to curb the scourge of terrorism and extremism with coordinated efforts.” Meanwhile, the chief minster Tuesday reviewed in detail several matters related to the Lahore Knowledge Park at a meeting on Tuesday. During the meeting, the CM Inspection Committee chairman presented a report pointing out alleged illegal recruitments at the company. Taking strict notice of alleged irregularities, the chief minister reprimanded the Lahore Knowledge Park chief executive officer on account of negligence and directed termination of all those recruited against merit. He reiterated that the Punjab government had always upheld merit and transparency and not institute would be allowed to bypass merit. He directed all government officers to abide by the rules and warned violators of strict action. He also sought a report on alleged irregularities at the Lahore Knowledge Park within seven days. “Departments concerned should keep an eye on government companies as such violation is not tolerable at any cost and secretaries concerned and members of board of governors of companies will be held responsible in case of any violation,” he added. Provincial ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, chief secretary, Chief Minister’s Inspection Team chairman, planning chairman and officials departments concerned attended the meeting. Meanwhile, MNA Aalim Daad Lalika called on the Punjab chief minister on Tuesday and said that every possible step was being taken to improve living standard of under-privileged people. He boasted that every project initiated under the vibrant leadership of the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was a self-explanatory precedent of standard, speed and transparency. “The government’s efforts to strengthen economic foundations of the country have been fruitful as foreign investment brought into country has opened vast employment opportunities,” he added. He continued: “Even international organisations have acknowledged good governance, transparent policies and splendid performance of the Punjab government.” According to media reports, at least seven people were killed and 21 others were injured on Tuesday when three suicide bombers tried to wreak havoc at a sessions court in Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. All three suicide bombers were killed by security forces.
