LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has written a letter to the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and the district administration to shift Shadman Sunday Bazaar to some other place, said PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mangel during a visit to different Sunday bazaars in the provincial capital on Sunday. Expressing serious reservations over the quality of food being sold to citizens at a makeshift market near a drain in Shadman, the PFA director general said, “Our teams are pointing out all such bazaars, which are located near drains, spreading diseases among the citizens.” He said that such drains were a main hub of germs, which contaminate food items. “Our teams are effectively trying to ensure cleanliness at food stalls located around such places.” Meanwhile, the PFA team destroyed 15,000kg of fruit preserves over poor quality and presence of fungus in it during a raid at a factory in Shahdara on Sunday. The PFA also sealed the factory. Published in Daily Times, August 211st 2017.
