LAHORE: The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) on Friday urged the US to make efforts to address the real cause of extremism in the Muslim world. “Leadership of Muslim world and US will have to initiate serious endeavours to address root causes of extremism and terrorism. To annihilate menace of terrorism and extremism, confronting challenges of Muslim world including Kashmir, Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen have to be resolved and prevailing sequel of foreign interference in affairs of Muslim world have to be ended,” PUC president Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said in a press release issued by the PUC. “The entire Muslim Ummah and US leadership have pinned hopes with Islamic summit to see positive outcome for elimination of terrorism and extremism. Pakistan has been playing very crucial and vital role to address challenges of Muslim Ummah,” said Ashrafi. “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are bound in a relation of faith and brotherhood and no one can destabilise this trust between both the Islamic countries. Expatriate Pakistanis residing in different parts of the world are like ambassadors of Pakistan and the government has to take pains to address problems of these Pakistanis,” he said. He said that the government of Pakistan should also take steps to help Pakistanis jailed in Saudi Arabia. “The Saudi government is willing to cooperate with Pakistani authorities on issue of the Pakistanis jailed in Saudi Arabia on minor crimes,” he said.
