LAHORE: Benazir Income Support Programme Chairperson Marvi Memon called on Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif and discussed ongoing projects, particularly Waseela-e-Taleem, to help low-income families. Speaking at the occasion, Shahbaz said that it was the obligation of the state to provide relief to low-income families, which was the reason the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, under the vibrant leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was spending billions of rupees to enhance the lifestyle of such families. He said that the Punjab Social Protection Authority had been set up to unite every single social programme under one roof, which had helped adequacy of social projects. He said that public welfare was a priority of the government. He said that the Waseela-e-Taleem programme would be extended to all parts of the province. Marvi Memon also briefed the CM on the progress of relief-providing programmes for low-salary families and said that those projects were working in seven areas of Punjab. She said that quick step would be taken to expand their range.
