LAHORE: Justice Shahid Waheed of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition seeking disqualification of three ruling party’s MPAs, including Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir and other others – Waheed Gul and Majid Zahoor. The court sought replies from the Punjab government, three MPAs and others until October 4. Zubair Khna Niazi had filed the petition. Counsel for petitioner Sheraz Zaka said that the three, despite being the members of the Punjab Assembly, were working as directors of the Lahore Waste Management Company owned by the Punjab government, and as such they stood disqualified under Article 63 of the constitution. He submitted that under the rules a member of provincial assembly could not work as the director of any government owned company. He requested the court to disqualify the three MPAs.
