Today, with most options of the colleges in Pakistan, it has become not only difficult but also confusing task both for the parents and their children to choose the best college. Choosing a college is personal and frequently traumatic decision which teens and their families have to make. So, the question is how to choose a good college for making your future? A good start almost guarantees for success. Selection of college will be the first step towards the flourishing career. Selection of a good college is a key to success, so the first and foremost thing for a good career is the status, high-quality education and character building quality of the college. It is a big decision to choose the course of professional life or the field one wants to be in. In Pakistan, selection of college after secondary education is a significant step for the student’s career. Not all colleges cater quality education, so choosing a good college is one of the tough decisions that students have to face. If objectively analyzed, the education system in Pakistan is in crisis. To understand the reason behind the shambolic state of an education system in Pakistan, there is a need to understand all the prevalent modes of education available in Pakistan and what are the loopholes present in those modes of education in Pakistan. Overall the education is disseminated in Pakistan through two sets of institutes that consist of public and private institutes. Public institutes are those institutes that are run by the government. A large number of masses in Pakistan have catered education through public institutes. Apart from few quality institutes in public sector which comprise in the likes of Government College University (GCU),Government College of Home-economics,Lahore College Women University (LCWU),Hailey College in the Punjab andEdwardes College and Islamia College in Khyber Pakhthunkhwa that disseminates quality education and offer degrees in a variety of disciplines. There may be exceptional broadminded arts degree programs as well as engineering degree programs. Public colleges have greater multiplicity in their apprentice bodies, with students from different parts of the country. Extracurricular activities flourish and numerous public colleges have a very active sports scene. The public colleges attract teachers with strong academic backgrounds. In spite of many best opportunities in the public institutes, there are some problems that students have to face. Students have to face a lack of proper attention due to the large student bodies. Classes in public institutes can be quite large with hundred or two hundred students per class. Some public colleges are quite large but have not enough space in classes that they can accommodate all the students. Classes fill up rapidly, and the students may not get all the classes they want. Some classes are taught by professors affiliated with other colleges or graduates’ who work as teaching assistant. The students’ interaction with teachers and professors may be inadequate; however, if one has to consult a teacher for a problem, one has to take an appointment. In public colleges, it takes a lot time on the part of students to build such type of connection with teachers than at private colleges. Teachers at public colleges may have more than hundreds of students at a time to deal with. As far as some of the public colleges, which are disseminating quality education, are concerned, they, though, through their flair for merit in admission of students, have kept intact the image of public institutes as a whole but the dilemma with such public colleges is that they are few in number, and most importantly, they, through high merit, accommodate a small number of students which, as a result, pit all other students to go from pillar to post in search of admissions. A Large number of students is hardly left with any choice to go for seeking quality education. Here comes the role of private sector in education in Pakistan. Private institutes are those institutes that are run by private bodies. They can be exemplified by institutes like Atchison College, Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC), Forman Christian College University (FCU), Leads Group of Colleges and Lahore School of Economics, University College Lahore and Superior Group of Colleges. The private sector in Pakistan has always been lauded for standing up to the education challenge that Pakistan has been facing with public sector or community institutes. The private colleges have several edges over the public education, and due to this, the parents are ready to give their children’s education in the private institutions for securing and improving their future. The education system of the private colleges is far more modernized and stable as compared to the public institutions. The major reason for this is the good investment and pure concern for the organization which the public colleges lack. Most of the private sector education is, by modern foreign education structure, catered in Pakistan. So thus, private institutes provide the people a good opportunity to give their children good quality education within Pakistan. Overall, their modus operandi gives more confidence to students and enhances capabilities of the students to compete at the international level. Although the private colleges are expensive as compared to the public education, they provide quality education which can guarantee success in future for all those students who study at private colleges. If objectively studied, some private sector institutes have their own flaws. The venture that some in the private sector had taken to contribute to the education system in Pakistan has turned out to be a just business enterprise. Some of the private sectors institutes charge only heavy fees, but the quality of education system is poor. Most of the time, the students studying at private colleges have to go for tuitions during second time. They do not have any merit scholarship programs for those who cannot study there. Also, the problem of these private colleges is that they do not have the main location of its campuses and separate campuses for boys and girls. They lack facilities for students. For students faced with conundrum of whether to go for public sector institute where small number and too much high merit have turned public sector institutes for few or private sector institute where hefty fees has turned attaining education there almost impossible, there is one other choice that they can go for and that is Punjab Group of Colleges. Although, this college is private in nature, but its quality education at affordable rates has overcome all the challenges of the private sector and has matched that handful of public institutes that disseminate quality education in Pakistan. Apart from the best educational system, high-quality education at economical rates, friendly atmosphere, and proper attention to every student are the well-known features of Punjab Group of Colleges. Besides providing modern educational facilities, the Punjab colleges provide wide-ranging services to its students such as online admission, separate building for girls and boys, transportation at low rates, employment portal, up to date and well-resourced Information Technology (IT) labs, different types of research material in a library and cafes with sanitized and healthy food etc. Choosing a top college in Pakistan is certainly a tough choice to make. While choosing a college, one should identify which career one wants to follow. Then, one should select a college that specialises in one’s line of the profesion (business) or has excellent academic programs in one’s choice of study. However, the best colleges cannot guarantee one’s success rather one’s academic and the career achievements depend on one’s hard work and willpower. Besides, a good college can prove to be a springboard for a successful career. Students can receive many benefits from their college experiences, including the chance to enlarge their worldviews, build lifelong friendships, and contribute in a variety of curricular or extra-curricular activities.
