LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was Monday signed by the World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) and the Information Technology University (ITU) for fostering multi-disciplinary research activities to conserve nature in Pakistan. The MoU siging ceremony was held at ITU, which was attended by ITU Vice Chancellor Dr Umar Saif and WWF-Pakistan DG Hammad Naqi Khan. The MoU will encompass studies related to sustainable agriculture and modern fisheries in the habitat of Indus dolphin. A joint research fund will also be established by both organisations to facilitate such studies for the period of 2017-2020. Talking to the media, Dr Umar Saif said that environmental pollution demanded protection of wildlife and the MoU would ensure the monitoring of environment by deploying censors at already installed 300 Wi-Fi hotspots to monitor the pollution level.
