LAHORE: The Primary and Secondary Health Department Punjab is celebrating “Khadim-e-Punjab Sehat Khidmat Week” across the province from August 15, 2017. During the week, P&S Health Department would organise consolidated health camps at District and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals and at selected RHCs and BHUs. Blood screening for diagnosis of various diseases would be carried out besides vaccination of children and provision of awareness regarding healthy life. This was stated by Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan in a meeting held on Saturday. He added that a comprehensive plan of prevention is being implemented in Punjab under which “Khadim-e-Punjab Sehat Khidmat Week” is being observed at district level. He said that blood screening of communicable/non communicable diseases, vaccination of children, medical checkup of pregnant women would be done at these camps and de-worming medicines would also be administered to the children. He said that Lady Health Workers would create awareness regarding hygiene among the women at community level and iron tablets would be distributed among the anemic women. The blood screening facility for Hepatitis, AIDS, Malaria and Diabetes would be available at the camp while sputum tests would also be carried out for TB. Moreover, counseling sessions also be organised for awareness of public regarding prevention of diseases and healthy lifestyle. Secretary Health said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is providing billions of rupees for the uplifting of health sector and to provide quality health care services to the masses and special attention is being paid on prevention of diseases to create a healthy society.
