LAHORE: The World Economic Forum has selected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA and successful entrepreneur Hina Butt as the Young Global Leader (YBL) for the year 2016. This honour is bestowed by the World Economic Forum each year to recognise the most distinguished leaders under the age of 40, nominated from around the world. Hina Butt’s selection is in recognition of her record of professional accomplishments, her commitment to society and her potential to contribute towards shaping the future of the world through her leadership. The forum of Young Global Leaders is a unique and diverse community of the world’s most outstanding, next generation leaders. Bold, brave, action-oriented and entrepreneurial, these individuals commit a portion of their time to jointly shape a better future and thereby improve the state of the world. “I feel honoured to have been named among the top young leaders of the world and would like to thank World Economic Forum for recognising my services,” said Hina Butt. “This recognition has given me encouragement to further contribute towards the betterment of my country besides continuing my efforts towards achieving my goal, which is to uplift the status of downtrodden segments of the society.” She said every citizen of Pakistan, in his/her own personal capacity, through hard work and commitment to the cause, could bring about a positive change in the society. Other individuals selected by the World Economic Forum include Highpoint Ventures Pvt Ltd (Hopscotch) Co-founder and CEO Romana Abdullah and renowned journalist Omer Cheema from Pakistan, businessman and entrepreneur Fahim Hashimy, politician Farkhunda Zahra Naderi and businesswoman Hassina Syed from Afghanistan, Hirdaramani Group Director Aaron Hirdaramani from Sri Lanka, entrepreneurs Kanika Dewan, Dr Sheetal Amte-Karajgi and youth leader Shaurya Veer Himatsingka from India, and Bangladehi youth leader and politician Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
