LAHORE: The Punjab government on Saturday suspended 46 protesting doctors in Lahore, Faisalabad and other cities. According to details, medical services at major government hospitals in the province remained suspended as protesting doctors refused to budge on their demands The negotiations between the Punjab government and young doctors also failed, while patients had return with getting healthcare facilities. Meanwhile, the strike of young doctors at government hospitals in Lahore continued for fifth day (Saturday). The outdoor wards of Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, General Hospital and Children Hospital remained closed. The protest of young doctors also continued in Civil Hospital, Faisalabad, and a sit-in was staged outside the office of the medical superintendent. Furthermore, young doctors forcefully suspended the medical services at outdoor wards over suspension of their fellow doctors. Emergency and outdoor wards remained closed in Multan as well, and patients were seen helpless over the cold behaviour of doctors. The relatives of patients also protested against the strike of doctors. Similar situation was witnessed at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Sargodha where young doctors locked the rooms of senior doctors, and refused to nurse the patients.
