LAHORE: Charged Lahoris are all set to witness the revival of the international cricket in Pakistan today (Sunday) as Quetta Gladiators will take on Peshawar Zalmi – the culmination of Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament – under the five-tier security at Gaddafi Stadium. A youth, who somehow managed to get a ticket to watch the match at the stadium, said, “I am not just going to watch a simple cricket match as it will be the beginning of the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. He added that he would don a jersey of Pakistan cricket team to support cricket and Pakistan. Laiba, a university student, who was to attend her cousin’s marriage outside the city, said: “I am not going to attend my cousin’s marriage as I have bought tickets to watch the final match along with my friends.” When asked about whether she was aware of the distance between the Gaddafi Stadium and designated parking place for vehicles, she said, “No matter how long the distance is or how much I will have to walk, I am ready to defeat enemies of Pakistan and cricket as this is the only way to defeat them.” Besides, a number of restaurants, party organisers, schools, universities and cinemas have also installed big screens at their places for the purpose. The match will also be screened through multimedia projectors at private and public sector educational institutions, including Punjab University, COMSATS, University of South Asia, University of Education and many others. Those who could not get tickets have planned to watch the match either at their homes or public places. Some fans have purchased multimedia screens to watch the match. Ehsan, 28, told Daily Times that he was unable to get tickets despite several visits to the banks. He said that he had found the solution to the problem as he had managed a multimedia projector from his office to watch the match with his family. Shahid, father of four, was of the view that his children were insisting on watching the match at the stadium but he was also not able to get tickets. But he bought his children a new LCD to watch the match. “It will be better to watch the match at home with my family or otherwise we will have to take a long walk to reach the arena amid tight security.” Meanwhile, the authorities concerned have arrange foolproof security arrangements in and around the stadium as police, army personnel and paramilitary forces have been deployed in quite a large number.
