LAHORE: The Kashmir Day will be observed today (Sunday) to express solidarity with Kashmiris and support their right to self-determination. The day signifies Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris for their ongoing struggle.The day will dawn with special prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir, victory of the freedom struggle and expression of solidarity with the Kashmiri people, followed by mass rallies, symposia, walks for peace, conventions and meetings in order to draw the world attention towards the plight of the oppressed Kashmiri people. A one-minute nation-wide silence will be observed at 10am in honour of the Kashmiri martyrs. Lahore Police have made foolproof security arrangements for the day and have deputed additional force to provide security to activists of Kashmir to maintain siutaiton of law and order. Traffic police have also made a plan to maintain smooth flow on roads of the provincial capital. Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year with the sole objective of seeking a peaceful solution to the Kashmir problem, besides delivering a pragmatic message to the international community.
