LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that agitation and negative politics are lethal poisons for durable development of the country because the politics of confrontation and agitation has always damaged the national economy. A statement quoting the chief minister Wednesday said that a handful of politicians engaged in the politics of anarchy had left no stone unturned to weaken the country. The chief minister said that those who had got their loans worth millions of rupees were calling for accountability of others. The development agenda of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had unnerved the opponents. “Opponents are afraid of popularity and development agenda of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as dwindling energy crisis has made them panic-stricken. “ He went on to say, “People were with the PML-N in the past; they are with us today and shall support the PML-N in the future as well.” The elements indulging in allegations will face the consequences of their negative politics and the nation will never forgive them, he added. He said that the tenure of Nawaz Sharif was the golden era in the history of Pakistan as loads of uplift projects were completed in shortest possible period. He said that conscious people of Pakistan would reject negative politics in the upcoming elections. He said that Nawaz Sharif ensured peace in the country through his prudent policies. “Nawaz Sharif rules the hearts of the people and no one can dare take him away from them.” Shahbaz said that poverty and unemployment had been decreased thanks to people-friendly policies of the PML-N. The chief minister said that a number of public welfare projects were completed in the last four years of the PML-N government, while the opponents had incurred colossal damage to national economy and the democratic stability just for the sake of power. The PML-N, said the chief minister, has always given priority of the national development and public welfare projects. “Our party has become the most popular party in the country.” He said that the development agenda of Nawaz Sharif would be moved further with full vigour and only the politics of development and prosperity would be furthered in the country. Separately, the chief minister Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in rain-related incidents in the province. He extended sympathies to the bereaved families and directed the administration districts concerned to provide best healthcare facilities to the injured. Published in Daily Times, August 3nd 2017.
