LAHORE: Around 40,000 women die in Pakistan every year due to breast cancer while the country has the highest rate of breast cancer in whole of Asia. One in every nine women in Pakistan was at high risk of becoming a victim of breast cancer in her lifespan. However, this was the only cancer that if diagnosed early, increases the survival rate to more than 90%. According to the Pink Ribbon Campaign Pakistan on Friday, October was celebrated worldwide as the international month of breast cancer awareness. Pakistan’s national awareness campaign, Pink Ribbon, also did what was required at various levels by raising public awareness about the disease.
