TAKHTBHAI: The police booked eight jirga members who allegedly facilitated the marriage of a 12-year-old girl asswara here on Saturday, official sources said. According to the police, just a month ago in Ramazan, brother of the victim girl, Kalim Shah, a resident of Takhbhai, had solemnized his marriage with 17-year-old Ayesha of Spin Khak in Cherat, without the consent of her family. A jirga decided to marry off a 12-year-old sister of Kalim, Mena Gul, to the brother of the Ayesha and imposed a fine or Rs 0.55 million. The police after receiving information raided the place and arrested thejirga members and the other accused. The arrested persons identified as Syed Shah, Qabil Shah, Muhtaram Shah, Kalim Shah, Zulfiqar Shah, Husan Pari, Umar Shah, Hussain Shah, Usman Shah, Faizullah, Zainullah, Pir Jamshed and Abdullah. The police registered a case under the Child Marriage Act.
