KARACHI: Meeting of the Sindh apex committee headed by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took place on Wednesday, during which Rangers Director General major general Bilal Akbar and Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police briefed the participants regarding development in ongoing targeted operation in Karachi. Bilal Akbar informed the participants that 848 target killers involved in 7,224 cases have been arrested since September 4, 2013. Out of the total number of target killers arrested, 654 suspects affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have confessed to being involved in 5,863 incidents of target killings. Meanwhile, CM’s Law Advisor Murtaza Wahab briefed the committee that registration of religious seminaries will be renewed. All the madrassas will be bound to obtain NOCs from the deputy commissioner, district SP, Building Control Authority and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He said madrassas cannot collect zakat and fitra directly and registration forms will be issued by the provincial Home Department. The apex committee also reached consensus over Sindh Maddaris Registration Bill 2016. Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, Corps Commander Karachi, Chief Secretary, senior minister Nisar Khuhro, Information Advisor to CM Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Law Advisor Murtaza Wahab and other top officials attended the meeting.
