KARACHI: Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi Col (R) Siraj- ul-Naeem has revealed that NAB Karachi has recovered about Rs1304.965 million this year by filing 50 corruption cases. While explaining the Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Naeem acknowledged him that NAB Karachi prepared 3267 complaints during the year 2016. The number of complaints disposed in 2016 was higher than the number of complaints disposed during this period of any other year ever. In 2016, NAB Karachi, out of 109 complaints verifications, completed 33 complaint verifications. NAB Karachi out of 151 inquiries completed 38 whereas out of 143 interrogations 40 interrogations were completed on merit. Chaudhry said that NAB is Pakistan’s apex anti-corruption organization assigned with the responsibility of elimination of corruption and corrupt practices through a holistic approach of awareness, prevention and enforcement. It operates under the National Accountability Ordinance-1999, which is extended to all of Pakistan, including FATA and Gilgit Baltistan. The NAB is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting zero tolerance policy across the board by using all its resources. By keeping in view assessed annual performance for the year 2015 based on evaluation under quantified grading system conducted by Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) during 2016 graded NAB Karachi’s performance as outstanding/excellent with 88% operational efficiency index (OEI) which is highly appreciated, he added. He further said that NAB Karachi’s excellent performance under the supervision of DG NAB Karachi has been more than any one past year in the history and directed all ranks of officers/officials of NAB Karachi to work more honestly, vigilantly and diligently in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country.
