CHITRAL: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced resource shortages due to the discriminatory attitude of federal government and Rs27 billion decrease in receipts from the Centre. This he said during his visit to the flood affected infrastructure in the district. The PTI chief is on a two-day visit to Chitral during which he visited various projects in the district. He was being briefed by deputy commissioner Chitral on the damage flood and earthquake had caused in the district. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faces funds shortage after cuts in receipts from the federal government and the provincial government is not in a position to rehabilitate the flood-damaged infrastructure in Chitral,” he said. Imran Khan added that the provincial government had decided to contact donor agencies and in this connection a donors’ conference would be convened in Islamabad soon. He said the rehabilitation of the flood-affected infrastructure in Chitral required a hefty amount of Rs16 billion, but the provincial government lacked the resources to allocate the money. The PTI chief maintained the KP government was already making efforts to carry out rehabilitation activities within its own resources. Regarding the funding of the federal governments for the construction of three roads in Chitral, Imran Khan said that if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had fulfilled his commitments the fate of the country would have changed. Earlier, District Nazim Maghfirat Shah, Deputy Commissioner Osama Ahmad Warraich and MPA Saleem Khan briefed Imran Khan on the damages caused to the infrastructure by the floods and the suffering of the people. The PTI chief was told that monsoon has started and floods have rendered several families in Orsun, Ashirait, Brep and other areas of the district homeless while roads and bridges were also damaged.
