ISLAMABAD: Reporters Sand Frontiers (RSF) has asked the British authorities to file charges against MQM’s leader Altaf Hussain after he openly urged his followers to carry out an attack on TV channel offices in Karachi. Speaking via telephone, Altaf Hussain criticized the Pakistani media and urged his supporters “to storm the offices of TV channels,” said a press release of the RSF. Seconds after the phone call, MQM members attacked the ARY News offices in Karachi and the Karachi Press Club. They threw stones at the buildings and fired shots in the air. Some people stormed inside the office and attacked employees, causing a great deal of damage. According to the information obtained by Freedom Network, at least two reporters and four cameramen – working for Samaa TV, Neo TV, Channel 24, ARY News, Dunya News and 92 News – were injured during the attack. “Pakistani authorities reacted well to these acts of organized violence,” said Benjamin Ismail, the head of RSF’s Asia-Pacific desk. “But, since the violence was directly initiated from London by Altaf Hussain, we urge the British government to take measures against him, even if the violence did not take place in the United Kingdom.” Benjamin Ismail said.
