KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said on Friday the system to computerise all land records will prove to be beneficial for the people of the province. While chairing a meeting on computerization of revenue record, he said “I started it as a great service to the people of my province and I am sure they would remember me for preserving their ‘record of rights’ for them and their future generations.” The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, CM’s Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo, Board of Revenue (BoR) members Rizwan Memon and Zulfikar Shah. The chief minister said that he approved Rs 4.9 billion project related to the computerization of land record on December 12, 2011. Rizwan said that the project has been completed following a timeline of four and a half years. While highlighting the features and efficiency of the project, Zulfiqar said that the Sindh government has initiated a centralised computerised system which will aid the land owner in attaining a copy of his land record from any service center in Sindh. He said that the project has reached its final deadline and only eight to ten per cent of the entries require digital entry. He further said that approximately 3016 records have been efficiently added in digital format and only 25 complaints have been registered as ‘unfound record’. He said that the government is working hard to ensure that the system takes a perfect form and leaves no room for error. While underlining the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, he undertook the responsibility to personally verify the digitalised records preserved through microfilming. “This comparison and verification would remove whatever mistakes or inaccuracies are left in computerised work,” he said. The minister assured that the computerisation system of all revenue records will prove to be a great achievement for the people of Sindh. “I want you to follow the Supreme Court directives and make the record free of mistakes. This is my commitment with my leadership and with the people of the province,” he said.
