LAHORE: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) conducted raids on 844 shops on Wednesday – in connection with its drive against overcharging. As many as 117 shopkeepers were arrested – out of which 13 were sent to prison for three days after summary trials. The price control magistrates also lodged 81 First Information Reports (FIR) against the shopkeepers at various police stations. District administration imposed fines on 21 shopkeepers of Rs 15,300 for violation of the Price Act. District Coordinating Officer (DCO) Captain (r) Muhammad Usman issued directions to the price control officials to continue the crackdown on such hoarders and profiteers.
