LAHORE: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid observed on Saturday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan says that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif always goes for big projects because they yield bigger benefits, but he himself inaugurated a motorway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. “He (Imran) was recounting the same benefits of motorway which Nawaz Sharif recounted 30 years ago. Today he understood something 30 years old, and 30 years from now he will understand what is happening now,” Pervez said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Textile Asia International Trade Fair at the Expo Centre. He said Pakistan used to be progressing when Nawaz Sharif was in power earlier, with the rupee stronger than the Indian currency but some events changed it all. “We have to make up for all the time that was lost due to former president Pervez Musharraf’s adventurism.” Answering a question about foreign policy implications of absence of Afghan and Indian finance ministers from South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) conference, he said representatives from the two sides were present at the conference and it is Pakistan’s aim to make the conference a success, as a successful conference benefits all members of the association. “The issues that are not contended between countries, such as human trafficking and flood relief must be worked on together, and the contentious issues must be brought to the discussion table at least,” he said.
