KARACHI: A free books stall was organised at the entrance of University of Karachi the other day to distribute books free of charge among the students to promote the habit of book reading among the youth. The stall was set up at the Silver Jubilee Gate of the university by the social welfare organisation ‘Meray Log’ in a bid to address the declining habit of book reading in the young generation. A vast collection of books on different topics in Urdu and English languages were placed at the stall. Talking to APP, the organisers Salman Ali Ibrahim and Muhammad Yousuf expressed that book reading habit was gradually declining in our society. They urged the people to donate their books which they have already read and get books of their interest free of charge from the stall. Yousuf said a delegation of his organisation will soon meet the Karachi University vice chancellor and appeal him to allow them to fix bookshelves at the wall of the university’s Silver Jubilee Gate.
