MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal on Saturday kept intact the decision of Mirpur Returning Officer Judge Sardar Shah Zaman of constituency LA-4, Khari, accepting the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ch Rukhsar Ahmed, scheduled on July 21st general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir from the aforesaid constituency. The CEC dismissed the appeal filed by his rival candidate Ch Arshad Hussain of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) in the scheduled elections in the same constituency, who had challenged the acceptance of the nomination papers of Ch Rukhsar Ahmed on the ground of a previous case in which the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir had reportedly disqualified Ch Rukhsar Ahmed on the grounds of the lack of required minimum qualification of matriculation for contesting the previous June 26, 2011 general elections in AJK. Later, Ch Rukhsar Ahmed did his matriculation meeting the requirement of minimum qualification for contesting the scheduled July 21st AJK Legislative Assembly elections.Mirpur Returning Officer Mirpur Electoral Constituency LA-4, Khari Judge Sardar Shah Zaman had accepted the nomination papers of the candidate Ch Rukhsar Ahmed by last date of June 16, for contesting the scheduled elections from the concerned constituency. Ch Arshad Hussain, the arch rival candidate to Rukhsar, had challenged the acceptance of the nomination papers of Ch Rukhsar Ahmed before the returning officer of Electoral Constituency LA-4, Khari Judge Sardar Shah Zaman who turned down Ch Arshad Hussain’s plea.
