ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Haripur Forest Department KP District Forest Officer (DFO) Tauheed-ul-Haq, on Tuesday, allegedly involved in the accumulation of illegal assets worth Rs 28.87 million. As per the details, the matter was brought into the notice of NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Authorities. Taking cognisance of the matter, inquiry was authorized to ascertain the real facts and collect requisite evidences regarding the moveable and immoveable properties owned, controlled and possessed by the accused persons in their name and in the name of their dependents. During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that the accused DFO remained posted on different posts in the Forest Department, including Range Forest Officer Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Swat, UNDP Project Dir, SDFO Mohmand Agency, Bannu, Malakand, DFO Kohistan and Haripur. During his tenure in the Forest Department he piled assets worth millions of rupees in his name and in the name of his dependent. Their illegal properties, disproportionate to known sources of income included plots of residential and commercial lands, houses in different cities and luxurious cars. Inquiry is being actively pursued and more alarming facts are on the cards. The accused would be presented in the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand.
