ISLAMABAD: The United Nations in Pakistan, the European Union along with United States, France and Japan have strongly condemned terrorist attack on Police Training Academy in Quetta, targeting recruits and security personnels. United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Angela Kearney expressed deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of all those who lost their lives or were injured in the brutal terror attack. She said that their thoughts today were with the Pakistani security forces, the victims and their families, as well as the Pakistani people. “On behalf of the UN System, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” she added. High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President Federica Mogherini said that in a statement the people of Pakistan were once again in their thoughts following last night’s deadly attack on a police training centre in Quetta. This attack underlined the continuing threat posed by terrorism and the need for strong international cooperation in the fight against it, in Pakistan, the wider region and beyond, she added. She expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. The United States expressed solidarity with the government of Pakistan. “The United States condemns the terrorist attack on the police training center in Quetta. We extend our condolences to the victims and their families, including the police cadets who are embarking on careers of public service,” spokesman of the US State Department, John Kirby, said in a statement. A condolence message issued by France Embassy in Islamabad said in these tragic circumstances, France presented its condolences to the families of victims. France recalled its commitment and stood with the Pakistani authorities in the fight against terrorism, it added. Japan also strongly condemned the terrorist attack by saying that it was shocked and saddened by the attack which caused numerous deaths and injuries at the police college in Quetta. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan said that it prayed for the victims and expresses its condolences to the bereaved families. “Japan intends to support efforts by the government of Pakistan to combat terrorism in cooperation with the international community,” it added.
