ISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan on Saturday said that despite the outcome of British referendum to leave EU, there would be no negative impact on Pakistani exports to Britain under GSP+ (generalised scheme of preferences). In a statement, the minister asked Pakistani exporters to continue their exports to Britain as there was no apprehension of UK withdrawing GSP+ status for Pakistan. He said the ministries of Commerce and Foreign Affairs were in constant touch with the Pakistan High Commission in London to get the latest updates on the situation arising out of the referendum. The Ministry of Commerce would also approach its British counterpart to seek policy clarifications, he added. Meanwhile, a high level meeting at the Commerce Ministry has been convened next week to formulate Pakistan’s trade strategy in the wake of British decision to quit the European Union.
