ISLAMABAD: As many as 411 militants have been executed under the National Action Plan (NAP) while some 5411 militants are still detained in various jails of the country, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Coordinator Ehsan Ghani said on Monday. While briefing the media he said that some 11 special trial courts were functioning in the country. He said that during the operation some 1808 militants had been killed while about 5611 militants were apprehended. He said that some 53 persons would be recruited for the Joint Intelligence Directorate (JID). The posts would be advertised in the national dailies during next week. “Over 2 million search operations and 1.2 million combing operations were conducted and about 8307 individuals are included in forth schedule. The list of fourth schedule would be reviewed”, he said. He maintained that the central data bank was being formed of persons included in the fourth schedule and their license and data were being blocked and shared with the State Bank of Pakistan, Passport office and the driving license issuance department. He added that after the terror incident of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar, the government had vowed to eliminate terrorism from the country. About 126 bank accounts regarding terror financing had been frozen and software had been given to provinces for data. He further said that a fund of Rs 1.8 billion was demanded from the government, and Rs 109 million of it had been paid while the remaining amount had been earmarked. “The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered the amount of Rs 1 billion in the head of financial assistance of militants and blocked some 126 bank accounts of their facilitators”, he added. He said that some 11 courts have been established across the country under the Nap while some 626 militants had surrendered. He added that negotiation with self-exiled Baloch leaders was also going on.
