PESHAWAR: A sub-inspector from Police force’s Special Branch was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Charsadda’s Sardaryab area on Monday, Police reported. The deceased police officer, Akbar Ali was on his way to work in Peshawar when armed motorcyclists shot him, killing him on the spot. “The incident has all the markings of a target killing,” DPO Sohail Khalid mentioned to the police. The body of the deceased was shifted to district headquarter hospital in Charsadda, where doctors carried out an autopsy. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been particular targets of banned outfits in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Some 1,300 policemen have lost their lives in the province since 2007. Last month, at least one police personnel was killed while three others, including a child, were injured in a roadside blast which targeted a police mobile in Peshawar. The vehicle was targeted within the jurisdiction of Mathra police station. An improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 3kg had been planted, said SSP Operations Peshawar Police Abbas Majeed Marwat.
