ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry on Monday dubbed the Indian firing at border with Pakistan ‘deplorable’ and said India should ‘act logically’ if it wants to resolve the bilateral issues. The Foreign secretary – while talking to media persons – said that Pakistan has respected the 2003 ceasefire with India and has never initiated any firing. Aizaz said that Pakistan had lodged its protest with India on the recent incident of unprovoked firing at a diplomatic level and expects that the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to soon submit its findings to its headquarters. According to Aizaz, the Kashmir issue was a long standing item on Pakistan’s agenda – to which it would continue to extend support and expects the United Nations (UN) to play its due role for the matter’s resolution in accordance with the resolutions of its Security Council. “Pakistan seeks to promote peace in Afghanistan – as being the member of Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) – and has been committed to the continuity of this process,” he said.
