BAGH: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spent taxpayers’ money on the Mayfair flats in London. Addressing a rally in Bagh, Khan said that a thief could not hold another thief accountable. He said that all national institutions needed improvement and those who destroy the institutions could not improve them. Criticising Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Khan said that nations would not make progress through construction of roads and motorways. He said that Rs 200 billion were being spent on the Orange Line train project covering a distance of 27 kilometres in Lahore. He said it would be better to spend this money on education of children and health. He said that Sharif would “build projects to make money”. “Why would not a cricketer go for match-fixing when the prime minister of his country was involved in corruption?” he asked. The PTI chairman said the West had been providing numerous benefits to its people and decisions there were being taken on merit. He said the United Kingdom was spending a big amount on the public welfare. He said that Pakistan would make progress only when money would be spent on people’s welfare. He said that Pakistan had been blessed with many weathers and numerous natural resources, which were not even available to many advanced countries. He said that countries like Germany and Japan were devastated after the World War-II, but they recovered, as they made the right choices. “The poor in the UK is provided free legal assistance. No one can be subjected to atrocities there and the police department is free from any political interference,” the PTI chief said. “As long as a citizen remains unemployed in Britain, he is given allowance by the government,” he added. Khan said the people of Kashmir faced many hardships in the past. He said the South Asian region could not be at peace until the Kashmir issue is resolved. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was doing business with Indians instead of raising the voice for the people of Kashmir. He said that he would stand by the people of Kashmir and raise voice for them at every forum. He said the first institution that should be improved in Azad Kashmir should be the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) so that no influential person could evade accountability. He said that there should be justice for all without any discrimination. Khan said, “We will show it to everyone how is corruption eradicated from here. Some of the most corrupt mafias are based in Azad Kashmir. Our NAB will not even spare PTI AJK President Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and his relatives,” he said. “The real accountability is carried out precisely in accordance with the law and it does not let anyone escape,” he said.
