LAHORE: Special Monitoring Unit (Law & Order)’s proposed amendments in the ‘Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965’ were laid in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday. The amendments are a part of the phase 2 SMU’s ‘Transport Sahulat Programme’ covering Automotive Registration Card (A.R.C), Re-registration of out of province vehicles and change in ownership of vehicle number plates (plate belonging to the owner. Salman Sufi Senior Member SMU (Law and Order) informed in this regard that SMU has formulated this most comprehensive Transport Sahulat Program’ on the recommendations of the Chief Minister to implement NDGPAP in its true intended form. The proposed amendments fall part of chapter XIX of the 1965 Motor Vehicle Ordinance through which the existing system of motor vehicle registration books will be replaced by Automotive Registration Cards (A.R.C). The A.R.C smart cards would include real-time information on the vehicle and its owner.
