ISLAMABAD: A six-member Scotland Yard team had arrived in Pakistan to meet with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials with regards to the Imran Farooq murder case. Sources say that the Scotland Yard team had arrived in Islamabad on Sunday morning and is expected to visit FIA headquarters today. The team will discuss the murder case with FIA officials. Sources have also disclosed that the process of collecting and confirming evidence between Pakistan and England has continued for a while now. The team has come to Pakistan to share relevant knowledge and evidence pertaining to the case with FIA officials. They will also discuss their money laundering investigation with Pakistani authorities. Dr Imran Farooq was a key leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and after the 1992 operation against MQM he had fled from Pakistan to seek political asylum in UK. He was murdered on 16 September 2010 outside his residence in London. According to British police he had been stabbed to death by a knife and also attacked with a brick. The two prime suspects in this murder case are Mohsin Ali Syed and Kashif Kamran Khan. MQM chief Altaf Hussain had strongly condemned Dr Farooq’s murder and had called for the immediate arrest of his killers.
