ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force Pakistan in 15 operations across the country on Thursday seized massive quantity of narcotics including 6.625 tonnes of hashish, 94kg heroin, 227kg opium, 9.2kg morphine, 760 grammes of cocaine and 80 psychotropic tablets while arresting 14 persons – including a woman and a foreign national – involved in drug smuggling. The value of the seized drugs amounts to Rs 8 billion in the international market. The ANF also seized 148.2kg of a suspicious chemical during the operations. ANF Peshawar in a joint operation with FC KP, seized 6604kg hashish, 226.5kg opium, 88.74kg heroin, 9.2kg morphine and 148.2kg of a suspicious chemical. According to details, the drugs were stocked at an abandoned site located at Shakas, Khyber Agency. As per preliminary reports, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang and moved to an unidentified destination. In another operation, ANF Peshawar recovered 2kg hashish from the possession of two drug carriers (identified as Arif Shah and Shahnawaz, both residents of Attock) who were stopped on their motorcycle and arrested near Dengi Tube Well, Haripur.
