ISLAMABAD: Modeling sensation Arshad Khan, whose good looks have forced people to queue up for a glimpse both in the real and virtual worlds, has denied allegations of being part of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf ‘s (PTI) plan to shut down Islamabad on November 2. The supermodel’s statement comes after Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid had accused 18-year-old Arshad of being a PTI plant, responsible for singlehandedly blocking Peshawar chowk, days before the planned lockdown. “It’s absolutely false that the date was shifted from October 30 to November 2 to accommodate my shooting dates,” Arshad said while talking to Khabaristan Times. “And I would like to completely distance myself from any city lockdowns, traffic blockages, websites being down or skewed social media numbers.” A visibly irritable Arshad then went on to distance himself from other things. “Also, I don’t want to have anything to do with people using me to further their own ideas, political or otherwise,” he said. “Keep your issues with white colonialism, orientalism, objectification, reverse sexism, Punjabi racism and overall identity politics hogwash to yourself. Keep me out of it,” he reiterated. This scribe then asked whether he has an eye on career in politics. The 18-year-old simply shook his head in response. It is pertinent to mention here that it remains unknown whether the movement was a gesture of negation or disbelief.
